Choosing the Right Cycling Bicycles

In recent times the western world has undergone a transportation change. Before the car was transport of choice but recently however the use of push bikes has become increasingly popular. Perhaps the trend can be put down to 'green' thinking, or maybe just the prices of gas are starting to get to people. Either way there are now more bikes on the road then ever before. Have you been thinking about getting a bicycle? If you have then there are several things you should look at when you do.

One of the most important things to keep in mind is the cost of the bike. This doesn't mean other things aren't important, like where you are going to ride or how often you will, but it does mean that the cost of the bicycle should be one of your main concerns.

If you are new to the bike buying business, you will see that the price can be anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. This doesn't mean you are going to have to spend thousands of dollars on a good bike, because there are ways you can find a great bike for a great price. Auctions are one of the best places to find a great bike that will be fairly inexpensive and still have everything you need.

If you intend to get a road bike then take 9" away from your total inseam. The size of the tires a road bike uses are the reason for this. Road bikes are meant for city cycling—the tires are thinner and work best on concrete paving. For a mountain bike take away 12 inches from your inseam. Again this is to account for the size of tires. These tires are designed to handle rocky and jagged terrain so are therefore thicker. It is possible to use mountain bikes for city cycling although this is not what they are best suited for.

The number of gears you’ll important site use will also affect your choice. If you plan to ride in rocky or mountainous areas, you’ll need more gears than riding on flat land. You can’t evaluate the bike only by the number of gears it has. The truth is that you might not need all of those different gears. Why spend extra money paying for something that you don’t need? Know how you’ll ride your bike; make sure you have the correct gears for traveling, especially when this is your main mode of transport.

When you get a bike your main goal should be to find one that physically suits you. If you intend to use your bike a lot, perhaps as your main method of transport, it is important you keep this in mind. Comfort and saftey are the two most important aspects of riding a bike.
